Our Challenge…

Brevard ASAP was created by a group of community activists no longer willing to accept that our County shelters had—in part because of shortage of resources—needlessly become killing fields for large numbers of companion animals entrusted to their care.  So far in 2010, the combined statistics for both the south shelter in Melbourne (South Animal Care and Adoption Center—SACC) and the north shelter in Titusville (North Animal Care and Adoption Center—NACC) are these:  approximately 10% were returned to owners, 15% were taken by rescue organizations to pursue adoptions, 19% were adopted at the shelters, and 54% were killed at the shelters (euphemistically called “euthanized”).  Brevard ASAP believes that this must change!

Our Solution…

With Brevard County’s budget tightly constrained by a struggling economy, it’s clear that the answer to saving these helpless animals is to work with the community to provide what is missing.  With the intense passion of its founding members, Brevard ASAP is committed to helping our County shelters become model no-kill facilities and to ensuring that every adoptable animal in their care finds a good home.  We are asking Brevard residents to join with us in Supporting Our Community and its Animals.
